tositlate becausehewas deafand nowatnightit wasquiet and he feltthe difference.The twowaiters inside the cafe knew that the old manwas alittledrunk,andwhile he was a good clientthey knewthatif hebecame toodrunk hewouldleave withoutpaying,so theykept watchon him.It wasvery late,and everyonewas leavingthe restaurant,and onlyone old manwas sittingin the shadow of the leavesblocking the light.During theday,the streetswerecovered withdust,and atnight thedew settledthe dust.The old man likedtosit verylate,because he wasdeaf,and nowit wasquiet atnight,andhefeltdifferent from theday.The twowaitersin the restaurantknewthat the old man wasalittle drunk,and althoughhe was agoodcustomer,they knewthat if hewastoodrunk,he wouldleave withoutpaying,so theykept watchinghim.“Last week he
