1977.iamattaching tothis statementacopy ofmy resume for furtherdetails ofmy cation.i graduatedfrom theuniversity withacademic honorsandproceeded to the yalelaw school,where ireceived myjd degreein
1980.upon graduationfrom lawschool,i becamea practicinglawyerwith theWashington,de,firm ofward,hardraker,and ross.in1981,i wasintroduced tonow judge thomas bya mutualfriend,judgethomas told methat he was anticipatinga politicalappointment,and he asked if i would be interestedin workingwith him.hewas,in fact,appointed asassistant secretaryof cationfor civil rights,after hehad takenthat post,he askedifi would beehis assistant,and iaccepted thatposition.in myearly periodthere,i hadtwo majorprojects.the firstwasan articlei wrotefor judgethomas!signature onthe cationofminority students,the secondwas theorganization ofa seminaronhigh-risk studentswhich wasabandoned becausejudge thomastransferredtotheeeoc wherehe becamethe chairman of thatoffice.during thisperiod atthe departmentof cation,my workingrelationship with judgethomas waspositive,i hada gooddeal ofresponsibilityand independence,i thoughthe respectedmy workandthat hetrusted myjudgment,after approximatelythree monthsofworking there,heaskedme to go out socially with him.what happenednext andtelling theworld aboutit arethetwo mostdifficult things一一experiences ofmylife,it isonlyafter a great dealof agonizingconsideration andsleeplenumber--agreatnumber ofsleeplenights thati amab1e totalk oftheseunpleasant mattersto anyonebut myclose friends.i declinedthe invitationtogooutsociallywithhimandexplained to him thati thoughtit wouldjeopardize whatatthetimei consideredto bea verygood workingrelationship,i hada normalsociallife withother menoutside ofthe office,i believedthen,as now,that havinga socialrelationshipwitha personwho wassupervisingmy workwouldbeill-advised,i wasvery unfortablewiththe ideaand toldhim so.i thoughtthat bysaying noand explainingmy reasonsmy employerwouldabandon hissocial suggestions,however,to myregret,in thefollowingfew weeks,he continuedto askme outon severaloccasions,he pressedme tojustify myreasons forsaying notohim.theseincidents tookplace inhis officeor mine,they werein theformof privateconversations whichwould nothavebeenoverheard byanyoneelse.my workingrelationship becameeven morestrained whenjudgethomas beganto usework situationsto discuse-x.on theseoccasions,he wouldcall meinto hisoffice forreports oncationissues andprojects,or hemight suggestthat,because ofthe timepressuresof hisschle,we goto lunchto agovernment cafeteria,after abrief discussion of work,he wouldturn theconversation toadiscussionofse-xual matters.his conversationswere veryvivid,he spokeabout actsthat hehadseen inpornographic filmsinvolving suchmatters aswomen havingse-x withanimals andfilms showinggroup se-x orrape scenes,hetalked aboutpornographic materialsdepicting individualswith largepenisesor largebreasts involvedin variousse-x acts,on severaloccasions,thomastoldme graphicallyof hisown se-xual prowess.because i was extremelyunfortable talkingabout se-x withhimat alland particularlyin sucha graphicway,i toldhim thati didnotwant totalk aboutthese subjects,iwouldalso tryto changethesubject tocation mattersor tononse-xual personalmatters suchashis backgroundor hisbeliefs,my effortsto changethe subjectwererarely successful.throughout theperiod ofthese conversations,he alsofrom timetotime askedmeforsocial engagements,my reactionto theseconversationswas toavoid themby eliminatingopportunities forusto engagein extendedconversations,this wasdifficult becauseatthe timeiwashis onlyassistant atthe office of cation——oroffice forcivilrights.英文演讲稿格式英语演讲稿格式从大的方面看,英语演讲词实际上是属于一种特殊的说明文或议论文,其基本组成部分是1)开始时对听众的称呼语最常用的是ladies andgentlemen,也可根据不同情况,选用fellow students,distinguished guests,mrchairman,honorable judges(评委)等等2)提出论题由于演讲的时间限制,必须开门见山,提出论题提出论题的方法有各种各样,但最生动,最能引起注意的是用举例法比如你要呼吁大家关心贫穷地区的孩子,你可以用亲眼看到的或者收集到的那些贫穷孩子多么需要帮助的实例开始另外,用具体的统计数据也是一个有效的引出论题的方法,比如你要谈遵守交通规则的话题,你可以从举一系列有关车辆、车祸等的数据开始3)论证对提出的论题,不可主观地妄下结论,而要进行客观的论证这是演讲中最需要下功夫的部分关键是要把道理讲清楚常见的论证方法有举例法、因果法、对比法等等,可参见英语议论文的有关章节4)结论结论要简明扼要,以给听众留下深刻印象5)结尾结尾要简洁,不要拉拉扯扯,说个没完特别是不要受汉语影响,说些类似“准备不足,请谅解”,“请批评指正”这样的废话最普通的结尾就是thank youvery muchfor yourattentiono范例ladies andgentlemen,good afternoon!i rmvery gladto standhereand giveyou ashort speech,today mytopic is“youth“o ihope you willlike it,and foundthe importancein youryouth sothatmore cherishit.first iwant toask yousome questions
